Jay McGilvary joined the Company in January 2017 and played a key role in the transition to Obsidian Energy.  He held key technical leadership roles of increasing responsibility across the full Obsidian Energy portfolio, including an integral position in the economic development of our Peace River asset and growing Clearwater play as well as development of the Cardium asset. As Vice President, Development, Mr. McGilvary leads the teams responsible for technical development, exploration/appraisal programs and drilling and completions operations.  Prior to joining Obsidian Energy, he worked in international Corporate Planning at Bankers Petroleum, where he led corporate strategy and new ventures.  Mr. McGilvary started his career with Husky Energy Inc. and Apache Canada Ltd., taking on increasing responsibility for asset development.

A Professional Geologist (P. Geol.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists, Mr. McGilvary holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Business Administration (with Distinction) from Cornell University.
