Tamer Edrees
Tamer is a seasoned Senior Manager with over 25 years of comprehensive experience in the petroleum industry. Currently work as the Deputy CEO for Production at the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).
As a strategic leader, Tamer is responsible for shaping and driving the execution of EGPC's oil production strategies and annual forecasting. His leadership is pivotal in integrating various upstream stakeholders, maximizing oil production, and ensuring operational excellence.
Tamer began his career in the drilling field at Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC), which laid the foundation for his expertise in petroleum engineering. His career took a significant leap forward when he joined Khalda Petroleum Company KPC in 2002 as a Petroleum Engineer. Over the years, he has ascended through various technical and leadership roles, including serving as Petroleum Engineering General Manager and Operations General Manager. Tamer's ability to lead teams, drive operational efficiency, and manage large-scale projects has earned him recognition across the industry.
As Deputy CEO for Production at EGPC, Tamer oversees more than 8,000 employees across numerous locations. His duties span across oil & gas production, well performance optimization, facility management, and pipeline network operations. Tamer's focus on safety, environmental compliance, and cost-efficiency has been central to his success. He is also deeply committed to introducing innovative technologies to improve overall operations and energy efficiency with continual focus on effective communications, collaboration, and integration between all parties.
Tamer’s leadership is marked by several significant achievements, including the successful management of high-impact projects, such as the implementation of gas compressors to reduce flared gas and a shift from diesel generators to more sustainable energy solutions at Khalda Petroleum Company KPC. He has also played a key role in enhancing the organization’s operations during challenging periods, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that EGPC’s production targets were met safely and efficiently.
A strong advocate for team development, Tamer has championed initiatives to mentor younger managers, improve operational workflows, and drive continuous improvement across all levels of the organization. He has also contributed to the successful merger of Khalda Petroleum and Qarun Petroleum Companies, aligning the two companies' operations, cultures, and organizational structures to foster growth and efficiency.
Tamer holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the Suez Canal University, Egypt, and is fluent in both Arabic and English. He continues to advance his expertise through numerous certifications and training courses, including leadership programs, risk management, and artificial lift technologies.
