PANEL SESSION 3: Creating Opportunities to Attract Young Talent
The move to “decarbonizing” our global economy has created a massive shift in young people’s career selection. More and more universities have either changed the titles of their Petroleum Engineering curricula or shut them down entirely. The young generation sees the oil & gas industry as a dinosaur, responsible for polluting the planet and with a very short remaining life span once the whole world proceeds to “decarbonize”. Despite these (perceived) trends, our industry will continue to require highly trained professionals for several decades to come.
This Panel will address the reasons for the young generation’s shift in career selection and what our industry should be doing to reverse or at least mitigate this trend to ensure future availability of adequately trained staff.
