Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to extend an invitation to attend the upcoming SPE Energy Transition Symposium, scheduled to take place 8-10 September 2025 in Houston, Texas. In a pivotal era for the energy industry, the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) recognizes its imperative role in leading the transformative journey that lies ahead.
Themed "Synergizing Innovation and Collaboration: Transforming Energy for a Sustainable Future," this symposium aims to establish itself as the preeminent event dedicated to the energy transition considering the technological, engineering, and scientific aspects, as well as the policy, financial, economic and social ones, in what is crafted to be the perfect platform for vivid and multidisciplinary exchanges to shape better perspectives and reflections.
Our primary objective is to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge and experiences, as well as current issues to accelerate the transformation of the energy ecosystem. We will benefit from the insights of industry leaders, technical experts, academicians, policymakers and regulators, representatives from the financial and investment/funding community, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) leaders, and sustainability practitioners. Through a careful selection of presentations we intend to foster discussions about technological advancements, cross-sector collaborations, innovations that may accelerate the decarbonization strategies, and exchanges that will move industry forward into a sustainable and inspiring future, pursuing not only the Sustainable Development Goal SDG7, Affordable and Clean Energy, and SDG13, Climate Action, but also energy-related pressing challenges pertinent to SDG8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG9, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG11, Sustainable Cities and Communities.
The symposium's agenda offers a rich array keynote addresses, panel discussions, technical presentations, and poster displays, that will aim for a direct connection of experts with the participants. Visionary practitioners at the forefront of the energy sector in the renewable and conventional segments, alongside experts in standardization challenges, ESG reporting, funding schemes, regulation, and social and economic impact will share their experiences, relating how key projects are changing and impacting the energy landscape. Current perspectives and challenges on the way ahead, rethinking strategies to balance profitability with sustainability for low-carbon economies will be central to the strategic panel sessions, led by industry executives and experts, including the vision of NGOs and researchers.
Technical sessions will delve into renewables, hydrogen, geothermal, critical minerals and energy storage, CCUS, policy, communication, and social impacts. We invite seasoned and emerging professionals alike to be active participants by sharing their experiences, learning from peers, and forging relationships with attendees representing diverse backgrounds, segments of energy, and connected areas to advance the new energy sector into the future.
On behalf of the 2025 SPE Energy Transition Symposium Program Committee, we look forward to receiving your abstracts by 8 April 2025, as we are confident you will find a technical category in the program to frame your interest, expertise, and even enthusiasm in the transformation of the energy sector. We are keen to welcome you on 8-10 September 2025 in Houston, the global energy hub!
