Sami A. Al-Ajmi
Sami is currently the Senior Vice President of Digital & Information Technology (D&IT) at Saudi Aramco. Prior to this, Sami A. Al-Ajmi was appointed the Vice President of Industrial Security Operations (ISO) to oversee all aspects of Aramco Security, ensuring the safety and protection of Aramco’s personnel, assets and facilities.
Al-Ajmi joined Saudi Aramco as an Apprentice Technician in October 1989, and completed his B.S. in Computer Engineering at Capitol College in 1996, and M.S. in Telecommunications at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2001.
Al-Ajmi began his career as a Computer Engineer in 1996, serving the Project Coordination Unit, before being named a Security Computer Engineering Consultant with the Unit in July 2008. In March 2009, Al-Ajmi was named Superintendent of Industrial Security Training, and returned to his role as a Security Computer Engineering Consultant in April 2010. In July 2012, he became an Executive Protection Coordinator in Industrial Security Operations, and in December of that year became Director of Industrial Security Planning and Support Services. In April 2017, Al-Ajmi was named Director of Norther Area Community Services and later Director of Southern Area/Central Region Community Services in August 2018. In August 2020, he was named Director of Transportation and Equipment Services, and held that position until he was named Director of Mechanical Services Shops Department in May 2022.
Al-Ajmi has covered a number of leadership positions in Upstream, Project Management, KAUST and Support Organizations, having successfully completed a number of leadership courses and executive programs since joining the company including Business Acumen Program Building Accounting, Finance and Risk Management Capability, Management Level Assessment Center, Saudi Aramco Leadership Forum in 2007, the University Executive Program - IMD in 2010, Saudi Aramco Management Development Seminar in 2012, Saudi Aramco Joint Venture (JV) Board of Directors Program in 2020, Incident Management System for Executives in 2021, and Digital Experience for Executives Program in 2022.
As ISO Vice President, Al-Ajmi introduced the Dynamic Security Operational Model, new Service Manager Module, and achieved the highest Cybersecurity Maturity Assessment in Aramco history. Al-Ajmi is the HR & Corporate Services Executive Champion for Aramco METABRAIN, which aims to bring Saudi Aramco to the forefront of Industrial Generative AI. Al-Ajmi is also the Chairman of Saudi Aramco Port Facilities Security Compliance Committee (PFSCC) and Champion of Aramco TCR-5 (Top Corporate Risk Facility Attacks).
