Sid Bhattacharya
Sid is currently the Global Vice President for Digital at Weatherford International. He is responsible for the company’s commercial and internal software, Industrial hardware, and digital infrastructure business.
Prior to this role, he led the Strategic Engagements team for Amazon’s Energy and Utilities business unit. This team focused on large, complex, innovative and market making engagements along the customers’ lines of business. Prior to this, Sid was the global leader for the AWS Products and Solutions business for Energy & Utilities customers. These customers include Oil & Gas Operators, Industrial Chemical manufacturers, Renewable Energy Generators, Electric and Water Utilities, and Nuclear Power Plant owners. The portfolio of products combine AWS native technology with that of AWS software and service partners to deliver business critical outcomes for customers.
Before Amazon, Sid was the Director of the Data Science and Analytics business in the Energy sector for Accenture. In this role, Sid was responsible for designing Accenture’s foray into a then new market by defining their Go-To-Market Strategy and creating their portfolio of products, solutions and accelerators. Prior to his role at Accenture, Sid was the founder & CEO of a company focused on integrity failure in late-life Oil & Gas assets and assessing the related environmental impacts. He created an analytics platform that would enable operators to identify and predict the risk of well integrity failures post abandonment and any associated environmental impacts. In this role, Sid also oversaw the development of one of the first Oilfield marketplaces where asset level trades could be made.
Sid is a Petroleum and Mechanical Engineer by background and spent numerous years working around the globe in various field engineering roles with BP, ExxonMobil & Santos. He is also a trained economist holding a Masters’ degree in Energy Economics from Rice University and is currently based in Houston, Texas.
