Omar Elshamy
BIO
Omar Elshamy is currently seconded from Baker Hughes as R&D Manager for O&G applications at Novel Non-Metallic Solutions (A joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Baker Hughes). He has more than 18 years industry experience in different technology roles since he joined GE late 2006. His expertise spans across fields through mechanical and aerospace engineering, as well as in new technology and product developments. His career includes many technology leadership roles at GE O&G and Baker Hughes. At Novel Non-Metallic Solutions, he leads the development of Non-Metallic Downhole Tubulars.
Before that, Omar spent 10 years in academia at Cairo University and University of Cincinnati working as adjunct faculty and instructor. Omar earned his PhD in Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics from University of Cincinnati while earned bachelor’s & master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Cairo University.
