Fiber-Optical Sensing (FOS) captures significant value in the upstream energy industry by offering unique ways to measure, understand and optimize asset performance. FOS applications have boosted NPV in assets designed to extract energy from the subsurface and increased effectiveness in using underground reservoirs to store captured greenhouse gases. Breakthroughs and enhancements in fiber-optic based acquisition, processing, real-time analysis and interpretation are allowing significantly better field development, management and optimization.
This workshop will highlight the value that distributed fiber-optic sensing brings to the development and operation of unconventional and conventional oil and gas as well as low-carbon energy projects. It will feature field case studies that use fiber-based measurements of acoustics, temperature and strain.
