Merbau 2, Level 12
Technical Sessions

Session Managers: Goh Bee Ling, ExxonMobil; Zukhairi Ismail, PETRONAS; Jason Kok, iNNOVATEQ

The search for higher production efficiency and lower operating costs is an ongoing effort in the mature and marginal fields where challenges are common. This technical session explores some of the advanced process optimisation techniques and execution case studies in this effort.

Advanced control strategies, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and other approaches are only a few of the many approaches that are included in advanced process optimisation techniques. These methods make use of the abundance of data from multiple sources, including sensors, production records, and reservoir models, to pinpoint inefficiencies, forecast equipment malfunctions, and enhance production procedures. By using these methods, operators can decrease downtime and increase production rates by making well-informed decisions in real-time. The session case studies on execution provide useful examples of how these cutting-edge methods are applied in actual situations. These case studies show how advanced analytics may be used to mitigate production decline in marginal and mature fields, optimise well performance, maximise recovery from the reservoirs and identify bypassed reserves. They also emphasise how modern control strategies can be integrated to manage intricate production processes, maximise resource recovery, reduce operational costs and ensure safe operations.
