Data acquisition and well surveillance play a crucial role in reservoir management and production optimisation, helping operators maximise hydrocarbon recovery and ensure sustainability of oil and gas production. Various non-intervention and intervention-based surveillance technologies are deployed to evaluate reservoir connectivity, detect fluid movement behind casing, diagnose production issues such as water or gas coning, and optimise well integrity remedial and stimulation strategies. With the increased demand of data acquisition and surveillance activities, this has led operators and service companies to jointly pursue new approaches and technologies to optimise data acquisition costs, operational efficiencies and improve data quality for better decision-making. A combination of engineering studies, software modelling, equipment selection, and innovative solutions that continue to be developed over time while leveraging lessons learnt from previously completed data acquisition activities will be discussed during this session. This session will also delve into best practices and lessons learnt for rigless data acquisition and well surveillance with a focus on the advancements in technologies which will improve the quality of data acquisition in a cost-effective manner.

Few oil and gas wells produce uninterrupted from initial production to abandonment. Various factors can hinder continuous production, including leaks, tubular wear, component failures, sanding, water issues, legacy fish, high deviation, etc. Well interventions play a crucial role in addressing these challenges, extending the life of wells and enabling access to stranded or additional hydrocarbon reserves. By implementing effective intervention strategies, operators can maximize production and enhance the overall efficiency and longevity of their wells.

Deciding whether to intervene in a well is fundamentally an economic decision, necessitating a careful balance between operational costs and the potential value of increased production. Recent developments in well interventions are reshaping the industry landscape. In addition to the introduction of new technologies, innovative applications and approaches are making significant strides by leveraging existing or retrofitted hardware to achieve successful intervention campaigns. "Innovation" has become the foundation of these advancements, driving the evolution of intervention and integrity practices.

This session aims to facilitate comprehensive knowledge sharing on key technological innovations that enhance operational safety, boost production, increase intervention success, and minimize environmental footprint and emissions which focus on the following key parameters:

    • Safety: Innovations that enhance safety.
    • Efficiency: Advances that streamline slickline, e-line, coil tubing, pumping, and heavy workover activities.
    • Cost Reductions: Innovative methods that reduce costs compared to traditional approaches.

Well interventions can be optimized to increase the recovery factor of reservoirs while maintaining economic viability. This ensures the reliability and affordability of energy supplies, reinforcing the critical balance between technological progress and economic efficiency.
