Driving Energy Transition: SPE/JAPT Workshop Advances CCUS and Low-Carbon Fuel Initiatives in Asia-Pacific.

The SPE/JAPT Workshop: CCS/CCUS and Low Carbon Fuels, co-hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Japanese Association for Petroleum Technology (JAPT), comes at a crucial time as the Asia-Pacific region navigates the critical period leading up to 2030 – a pivotal year for climate change mitigation efforts. With energy transition and sustainability becoming integral to the core business strategies of organisations committed to tackling environmental and societal challenges, the once theoretical concepts of CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage), CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage), and low-carbon fuels have now become practical projects demanding immediate action and international collaboration.

The workshop offers a platform for participants to exchange insights and expertise through in-depth discussions on the latest technological developments and advancements in projects related to CCS, CCUS, and low carbon fuels. Key topics will include CO2 storage, CO2 utilisation, clean hydrogen/ammonia supply, addressing both technical and regulatory challenges. A comprehensive overview will be provided by experts in the exploration and production industry and stakeholders across the low-carbon fuel supply chain, including end-users, engineering firms, and policymakers, offering insights into the multifaceted aspects of decarbonisation journey.
