About

Despite progress in research, engineering technologies, development practices, and management innovations, the development of shale and tight oil resources presents unique challenges. Variations in geological formations across different basins and the differences between marine and non-marine resources require tailored approaches to exploration and extraction. Environmental concerns, including water management and surface disruption, also pose significant challenges that must be addressed through innovative technologies and responsible practices.

Looking forward, the industry is focusing on several key areas to further enhance efficiency and sustainability. Technological innovation remains at the forefront, with ongoing research into advanced fracking techniques, reservoir modelling, and real-time data analytics. Improvements in drilling technologies are also crucial for optimising production and reducing environmental footprint. Furthermore, project management strategies are evolving to streamline operations and mitigate risks. Enhanced collaboration between stakeholders, from geologists and engineers to environmental scientists and regulators, is essential for ensuring safe and efficient development.

COUNTDOWN TO THE EVENT!

ATTENDING THIS WORKSHOP SUPPORTS THE E&P INDUSTRY

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a not-for-profit organisation. Income from this event will be invested back into SPE to support many other Society programmes.

When you attend an SPE event, you help provide even more opportunities for industry professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence. Scholarships, certification, the Distinguished Lecturer programme, and SPE’s energy education programme Energy4me® are just a few examples of programmes supported by SPE.
