Chairperson's Letter

Esteemed Colleagues,

The SPE-Gulf Coast Section Electrical Submersible Pump Symposium has consistently been the pinnacle event that unites the global ESP community to exchange knowledge, tackle challenges, and collaborate to propel technological advancements.

The theme for the 2025 event is “New Horizons: Propelling ESP Technology Further”. This theme encapsulates not only the ongoing developments in the ESP industry but also the transformative changes being implemented to the ESP Symposium itself.

The 2025 ESP Symposium is set to break new ground with a change of venue to the Galveston Convention Center. This location offers expanded event space for attendees and exhibitors, along with a wider range of amenities such as hotels and diverse social activities. We have allocated dedicated space for technical demonstrations and created new areas for attendee networking. The technical program will be enriched with more engagement opportunities through insightful panels and group discussions. Our very popular and “industry-best” continuing education classes will continue to be offered and there will be some new content added as well.

Our keynote speaker is Mark LaCour, the esteemed founder of OGGN and co-host of the globally recognized energy podcast, Oil and Gas This Week. The OGGN team will be broadcasting a variety of podcasts onsite during the ESPS, following the successful integration of this feature into the ESPS program in 2023.

The Galveston Convention Center and host hotels are nestled along the sandy beaches and warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. In collaboration with the Galveston Visitors Bureau, we are offering opportunities for attendees to immerse themselves in the beauty and history of Galveston Island during their stay.   The ESPS Golf Tournament will be held at the scenic Moody Gardens Golf Course and this year will be taking to the water with our inaugural ESPS Fishing Derby.

This event holds a special place in my heart for three reasons: 1) It was the platform where I presented my first paper and served as a SPE program committee member for the first time. 2) The program committee comprises a group of dedicated and industrious volunteers who tirelessly work to ensure this event is a valuable and engaging experience for all. 3) All profits from the event are channeled directly into providing college scholarships for young students in the SPE Gulf Coast Section region. The ESPS is one of the largest contributors of funds for these scholarships.

On behalf of the program committee, we look forward to seeing you in Galveston, Texas in August 2025.

Sincerely,
Shauna Noonan
