It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition, taking place for the first time in Atyrau, the hub of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry. This year’s event is particularly special as it coincides with the 125th anniversary of the oil and gas sector in Kazakhstan—a proud moment for our nation that underscores the legacy and importance of this industry for our economy, communities, and future development.

The energy landscape is undergoing a profound transformation, and technical events such as this are crucial in driving the necessary innovation, fostering collaboration, and building the expertise needed to meet the challenges and opportunities in the energy sector. Our conference theme, "Leveraging Regional Strengths for Global Competitiveness," encapsulates the essence of our gathering. By harnessing our collective regional capabilities, we can position ourselves more effectively on the global stage, ensuring sustainable growth and competitiveness. The insights and knowledge exchanged here will play a vital role in shaping the future of our industry—particularly as we navigate evolving technologies, global market dynamics, and sustainability initiatives.

I am pleased to see the comprehensive programme planned for this year’s conference. With eight panel sessions, 18 technical sessions, and an exhibition showcasing the latest technologies, the conference will bring together professionals from academia, industry, and government to exchange ideas and breakthroughs that will enable us to deliver tomorrow’s energy more sustainably, efficiently, and safely. A special thanks to the Executive and Programme Committees and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) for their tireless efforts in organizing this conference and bringing the energy community together.
