It is my honour to welcome you to the SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition, hosted for the first time in Atyrau—the heart of Kazakhstan’s Oil and Gas industry.

This year’s event is especially significant as we celebrate 125 years of Kazakhstan’s Oil and Gas sector, a milestone that underscores our nation’s crucial role in the global energy landscape. We can announce the Theme, “Leveraging Regional Strengths for Global Competitiveness,” we come together to explore innovative solutions, strengthen partnerships, and establish bold strategies for the future of our industry.

Today, the Oil and Gas industry must lead the transition to a low-carbon future. As part of this transformation, Atyrau Oil and Gas University is strategically integrating sustainability, artificial intelligence (AI), and climate-focused initiatives into our research and curriculum.

In alignment with these goals, our involvement in the Chapter Zero Kazakhstan initiative is a testament to our commitment to promoting responsible corporate governance on climate issues. Chapter Zero Kazakhstan encourages industry leaders to take an active role in driving climate resilience and sustainability across the boardroom and industry decision-making processes. Through such initiatives, we aim to position Kazakhstan as a leader in balancing energy production with climate responsibility, setting the stage for a greener, more sustainable energy future.

At Atyrau Oil and Gas University, we proudly celebrate our 65th anniversary this year, marking decades of academic excellence and our strategic vision to expand research, foster innovation, and strengthen global partnerships. We are developing new programmes and initiatives that will not only meet the industry’s current needs but also prepare future leaders to embrace technological advancements, such as AI and machine learning, in driving operational efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness in the energy sector.

The SPE Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition provides an ideal platform to further these efforts. Through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and technical innovation, we can collectively shape the future of the energy industry. We invite you to join us in these initiatives, explore partnership opportunities, and work together to address both the challenges and opportunities posed by the energy transition, climate change, and digital transformation.
